Installation

Installation:

First – why no installers? Well, because I don’t like them. Plain and simple. I haven’t ever worked with an installer system that behaved how I liked. Also, I feel it is in the interest of true transparency for you, the user, to know where everything is going on your computer and what additional runtimes etc are required and included in the install.

For both VST3 and AU formats, you will receive two zip files to unzip to very specific folders on your computer. Please use these folders specifically as the plugin may not work properly if you don’t. Your other VST3 or AU components probably will be living in these very same folders.

For MAC Audio Units:

Zip file named nameofsynth.component – extract the folder within to your /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components/ folder.

Zip file named nameofsynth Presets – extract the folder within to your /Library/Audio/Presets/ folder.

Bear in mind that the Library folder is a hidden folder on a Mac. If you’ve never had to access it before, a quick Google search will show you.

After those two folders are in place, you should be able to rescan your plugins in your host and be good to go!

For x64 PC – VST3:

Zip file named nameofsynth – extract the folder within to your /Program Files/Common Files/VST3/ folder.

Zip file named Jeremy Phillips (that’s me! I have chosen to use my actual name for my VST license) – extract the folder within to your /Users/yourname/Documents/VST3 Presets/ folder.

TrapDoor VST3 synths require Microsoft Visual C++ runtime to be installed. It is included in your package. Your machine may already have one or two versions installed by other programs. It is suggested you go ahead and run the install on it as there are several versions of this runtime.

You should be good!

Installing Updates:

Since updates often involve modifications to presets to reflect changes or additions to parameters, I feel it’s best to have them live side by side with older versions in the interest of any of a user’s current projects that may require the older version for some reason. So, the new version will not replace the older one. It is your choice to delete it.

To install your update, simply follow the same procedure above, with the exception that the Microsoft runtime is obviously already installed on your PC
